Alia L. Smith has been an associate with the firm since 2003, and is admitted to practice in New York. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Smith was an associate with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Following her graduation from law school, Ms. Smith served as a law clerk to the Honorable David A. Ezra of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.

Ms. Smith completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving her B.A. in 1996. She received her J.D. from George Washington University National Law Center in 2000 with high honors, and Order of the Coif. Ms. Smith currently serves as Secretary of the Committee on Communications and Media Law of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

During law school, Ms. Smith served on the editorial board of the George Washington Law Review, which published her note Rule 24(b): Broadening the Use of Permissive Intervention to Challenge Confidentiality Orders, 67 Geo. Wash. L. Rev. 852 (1999).
