LSKS's lawyers regularly write about emerging media law issues. Our attorneys’ articles appear in professional and scholarly journals, and our commentaries are published in newspapers and on the internet. Our lawyers have written the treatise Newsgathering and the Law and a law school casebook on media law.
LSKS attorneys also frequently are called upon to author amicus curiae (“friend of the court”) briefs in important First Amendment cases. Our firm regularly represents coalitions of media entities intervening in significant debates in cases in the United States Supreme Court and in federal and state appellate courts throughout the country.
Our attorneys likewise actively work to shape the law by assisting in drafting legislation that affects the press’s and the public’s right to access government records and proceedings and, given our substantial knowledge in these areas, we are called to testify as experts before Congress and state legislatures.
